冬至のゆず湯

Yuzuyu On The Winter Solstice

The “Winter solstice” is the day with the shortest daytime in the year.

The winter solstice in 2016 was on December 21st.

In Japan, we have traditions like eating pumpkins or putting a yuzu in a bath on the day of the winter solstice.

Even public baths in the town provide Yuzuyu(putting Yuzu citrons into the bath).

Zoos prepare Yuzuyu for monkeys and capybara and the scene that they are taking the bath comfortably is featured in news programs.

Yuzuyu on the winter solstice has become a Japanese tradition.
