Hometown Tax

In Japan, there is a system called “Furusato Noze(hometown tax payment)”.

When you send a donation to local governments across the country or your favorite town, your resident tax will have a little deduction.

After making the hometown tax, you will receieve a small token for appreciation, it’s interesting because the specialty products and proud of goods by each local government.

Many of them are delicious rice, beef, and foods such as snacks and fruits, etc, but there is also some unique things.

In Sumoto, Hyogo Prefecture, you can get a character goods called “Dragon Quest”.

日本には「ふるさと納税」という制度があります。
全国の自治体、好きな町に寄付金を送ると
住民税が少し控除されます。
ふるさと納税をすると、税金を納めた自治体から
「お礼」の品物をもらえる特典もあるのですが、
それぞれの自治体の特産品や自慢の品なので、
特色があって面白いです。
美味しいお米や和牛、お菓子や果物など食品が多いですが
中にはユニークなものがあります。
兵庫県洲本市では「ドラゴンクエスト」の
キャラクターグッズをもらえます。
