Grater

“Grater” is one of kitchen tools is used in only Japan. It is used to grate cooking ingredients precisely.
Vegetables such as ginger, garlic and Japanese radish can be grated without grains and get a smooth feel.
You can make vegetable sticky rice by mixing grated potatoes and lotus root with potato starch.
Also, it’s very convenient when making baby food.
Grated apple is easy to chew for sick people and also easy on their stomach.
You can mix grated carrots with food if children don’t like it.

薬味になる生姜やにんにく、大根など、
風味はそのままで粒がなく、

じゃがいもやレンコンをおろして片栗粉などを加えて
焼くと、美味しい野菜餅ができます。
また、赤ちゃんの離乳食作りに大変便利です。
病人には、りんごをすりおろしてあげると、
食べやすくて胃腸に優しいです。
にんじんが嫌いな子供には、すりおろして料理に
混ぜてしまいます。

    It isn’t unique to Japan. It’s just usually called a cheese grater around here and it’s probably better since it has 4 sides with different sized grates.
