Manners during meal

There is something you cannot do while having a meal in Japan.

It doesn’t matter in some cases, but you better take off your hat.
It is bad manners to eat with your elbows on the table.

There is a wide variety of manners for chopsticks.

That’s not good if you cannot make up your mind with holding your chopsticks.
Once you pick up something with your chopsticks, you have to bring in to your plate.

Do not lick your dirty chopsticks to clean them up.
Also do not pierce your chopsticks into food.

Say “Itadakimasu” before you eat and “Gochisousamadeshita” when you finish eating.
