Slippers for the Toilet

There are customs for wearing slippers in a room in Japan, and also a separate pair of slippers for the toilet. Not only for the house, but public places such as hospitals and restaurants are the same way.
Please remember to switch your shoes to slippers at the bathroom and switch again when you are done,  when coming to Japan for sightseeing. Since Japanese people who don’t wear shoes in their house care about cleanliness, we separate slippers. There are some sightseeing places where you can look around wearing shoes but must use slippers for toilets, so be careful.
