Japanese Customs that surprise foreigners

There are some Japanese customs that surprise foreigners when they visit Japan. One of them is blowing your nose in public.
I was surprised that a foreigner was blowing her/his nose hard in a restaurant when I went to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. Usually Japanese go to bathroom for that or wait until they find a place where nobody is.Blowing nose in public is disgusting and nobody appreciates it. It believe bad matter. It is unbelievable to use a hankerchief to blow your nose. Most people carry a pocket tissue.
