Kumihimo

“Kumihimo” (Braid) is a Japanese traditional craft. It’s thread weaving by the strings of thin silk or cotton, and there are several ways to weave and make different shapes.
It’s very popular as a Japanese souvenir for tourists from overseas. Useful things like straps and accessories are popular.
Originally Samurais used it as an ornament on the sword, then it was used for accessories of Kimono by females after Samurais had disappeared. It’s tied on the obi (a part of Kimono outfits) as a decoration. It’s similar to a Misanga.
